Simtrol's flagship Device Manager software (formerly called OnGoer) is a computer-based application that runs as a system service on the Windows platform. The software provides the ability to remotely and/or centrally control any device using a variety of interfaces, including TCP/IP, IR, IO, Relays, Serial (RS232, RS422 and RS485), Lanc, and USB. Commodity, off-the-shelf PC hardware is leveraged to create high-quality, affordable solutions. Via its deep two-way communication with devices, the software also provides the ability to monitor, diagnose, service, and schedule any device.
Simtrol’s software-based approach allows flexibility regarding hardware and development environment. Architecturally, application developers have the capability to write their graphical user interfaces or applications in various programming environments such as .NET, Visual Basic, C++, C#, Flash 8, Java, or Builder (Simtrol’s development environment for simple solutions). The application or GUI is then displayed on a commodity touch screen and/or mobile device for end-user use. Because Device Manager leverages TCP/IP for command and control signaling, administrative and diagnostic functions are available via network-based diagnostics tools.
