Justice Digital Solutions Selects Polycom Video Communications for Digital Arraignment Solution

  August 2, 2006

NORCROSS, GA – Justice Digital Solutions LLC (JDS) – the Simtrol, Inc. (OTCBB: SMRL) and Integrated Digital Systems joint venture – today announced it has selected Polycom, the world's leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, as its video platform partner for the national launch of its Curiax Arraigner™ digital arraignment solution.

Curiax Arraigner is a unified solution that tracks and records all prisoner case information – audio, video, documents, evidence, and electronic signatures into a digital case file that provides efficient processing from booking through arraignment and eliminates the inherent dangers associated with prisoner transport. The entire Arraigner solution pays for itself in approximately 12 to 18 months and continues to provide significant dollar savings and safety benefits for every year thereafter.

The Curiax Arraigner product was developed and tested in conjunction with Polycom, which joins IBM and Mainline Information Systems, a major IBM Solutions provider, as JDS’ partners in Curiax’s national sales and marketing rollout.

Craig Lynar, Vice President of Solutions Marketing at Polycom, commented: “Oakland County estimates the annual cost savings from this solution to be $4.1 million. In addition to these cost savings, we look forward to bringing Curiax’s considerable public safety benefits to many counties across the nation. We are pleased JDS selected us as their video platform partner and are excited to work with IBM and Mainline. This is a great team that has world-class technical abilities, as well as sales and marketing prowess.”

Rick Egan, JDS’ Chief Executive Officer, stated: “We are pleased to add Polycom to the JDS rollout team for several reasons. First, they have deep experience with Oakland County’s successful OakVideo digital arraignment implementation. The county integrated Polycom’s products into OakVideo, and because we derived Curiax from OakVideo, their experience with the platform is invaluable. Second, Polycom’s suite of desktop and group video endpoints, as well as multipoint video bridges, are high quality and easy to deploy and manage at all the locations needed for a countywide Curiax implementation: courtrooms, prosecutors’ and attorneys’ offices, as well as law enforcement and community corrections locations. Finally, their successful track record with local county governments provides us major inroads to bring this powerful new solution to their many county customers across the country.”
