Justice Digital Solutions Launches Curiax Arraigner 1.0

  July 24, 2006

NORCROSS, GA – Justice Digital Solutions LLC (JDS) – the Simtrol, Inc. (OTCBB: SMRL) and Integrated Digital Systems joint venture – today announced the launch of Curiax Arraigner, a new software product that is a unified solution that tracks and records all prisoner case information – audio, video, documents, evidence, and electronic signatures into a digital case file that provides efficient processing from booking through arraignment and eliminates the inherent dangers associated with prisoner transport. The entire Arraigner solution pays for itself in approximately 12 to 18 months and continues to provide significant dollar savings and safety benefits for every year thereafter.

Derived from the Latin phrase “amicus curiae”, meaning “friend of the court”, Curiax Arraigner builds on the successful implementation of OakVideo, an application developed by Oakland County, Michigan. In a unique technical and licensing relationship with Oakland County, JDS is advancing this application as part of a national rollout beginning August 1.

Curiax customers will enjoy the same benefits experienced by Oakland County including: increased safety at courts, jails, and holding cells by virtually eliminating offender transport; demonstrable return on investment for counties by reducing costs of incarceration, transportation, and payroll costs; increased productivity by enabling law enforcement agencies to prepare booking documents online and create digital case files on a central server; and, allowing redeployment of officers to street duty to increase first responder capabilities.

Mike Miller, JDS’ Chief Technology Officer, stated: “Our development team has worked extremely hard the past eight months advancing the OakVideo code to include over a dozen new feature-rich capabilities, including two major cornerstones. First, Curiax uses Simtrol’s OnGoer™ and OnGuard device control and monitoring software so that all AV devices in the courts and holding cells are easy to use and remain active through powerful proactive monitoring and diagnostics. Second, an External System Interface (ESI) was added to allow external systems to create and update cases, upload and revise documents, and send cases to recipient users. The interface uses standard web services and has authentication security features.”

JDS’s Chief Executive Officer, Rick Egan, added: “Curiax leverages IBM’s powerful WebSphere platform and by adding OnGoer, OnGuard and ESI capabilities, is in a strong architectural position to add complementary snap-on applications such as digital court recording, police interviewing, video visitation and others. Led by the initial rollout of Curiax Arraigner, the goal of JDS is to develop and sell these solutions to county, state and federal customers so they can increase public safety and workflow efficiencies while reducing costs. These benefits are invaluable in a post-September 11th world where our law enforcement officials are directed to do increasingly more to protect citizens.”
